Why compress regular HTML pages? I thought that network routers did that on their own.
Would this speed up router to router transmission time, but require more time on the client to decompress? I don't understand the benefit for compressing HTTP data if the network routers already do that, according to their built-in firmware, or network protocal, or whatever that's called.
